Effective Literacy Website #6 - StoryBerries

StoryBerries (https://storyberries.com) is an online library that provides a wide collection of quality stories, comics, fairy tales and poems for children. This website was created in 2015 and has a daily visit of 30 million international users since its launch date. Each story has been carefully selected to ensure it appeals to the average young reader.

Users can browse the library according to theme, grade level, age, topic, and length of time it takes to read an entire book. The variety of contents and detailed selection of books for different demographics is what makes the website unique from other online libraries. StoryBerries is an easy-to-access resource for teachers when searching for books related to any subject or topic. Most themes that are selected are common childhood issues such as bullying, empathy, communication, and more!

StoryBerries also has a YouTube channel filled with numerous compilations of read alouds. Almost every book on the website has a video or an audiobook. These features are useful for young readers who are just starting to read. The visuals help guide the young reader to comprehend what is going on in the story. The audiobooks help refine listening skills.

StoryBerries can be shared with anyone since it is entirely free. The creators do have advertisements for some books and certain programs, but no one is obligated to purchase anything. StoryBerries’ mission is to allow children across the world to have easy access to quality collections of children’s stories online. The website takes advantage of the world’s progressive shift to technology and continues to strive for ways to create bonds among book lovers and young readers.
