Children as young as 2 years old and as old as thirteen years old will find the online reading games and activities easy to navigate and engaging to interact with. This program formats its lessons to go beyond just introducing the skills. Users will find colorful animations, fun characters, songs and rewards within each lesson to help motivate their will to read.

Reading Eggs is separated into four sections: Reading Eggs Junior (ages 2-4), Reading Eggs (ages 5-7), Reading Eggspress (ages 8-13), and MathSeeds (ges 5-8). The entire website is completely interactive and geared towards motivating children to read. Before summarizing each section, it is good to know that there are curriculum materials available in workbook format to match the reading activities on this website. Parents and/or Teachers can enjoy a two-week free trial before signing up for a monthly/yearly plan.

Reading Eggs can be accessed through computer, desktop, smartphone or tablet by utilizing the website URL or the app. Upon registration, parents have the option to have their child take a placement test to assign them to a specific level or they can choose to start at the beginning level. Based on the many reviews from parents and educators, this website is highly engaging and effective for struggling readers.

Young children will find the activities on Reading Eggs Junior to be visually entertaining. Skills that are offered in this section include:  sorting, counting, following directions, listening, memory and recognition of letters and sounds. There is a vast number of read-aloud books, alphabet games, songs and phonemic awareness activities that are heavily involved in learning about words, sounds and letters. Overall, Reading Eggs Juniors is a great way to get your child involved in a beneficial education site early on.

Reading Eggs. This is the main section of the website. The target audience are children ranging from ages five to seven years old. Reading Eggs focus on the beginning grades in which reading is first introduced. The skills involved in this section involve recognizing and writing letters, phonics skills, sight words, vocabulary, comprehension, suffices, prefixes, and plurals. There are over 120 lessons and 170 plus activities just in this section alone. The entire section is self-paced. Students have the freedom to review previously completed lessons, but they cannot skip ahead. This offers a comfort level for parents and teachers, knowing that students are unable to unlock a new skill without grasping the prerequisite skill first. Another great feature about this website is that parents are able to go onto their dashboard to review their child’s progress report. Children will be interacting with lesson activities, quizzes and challenges that gauge their overall understanding of each reading skill. Parents will be able to see the result of each, upon completion.

ReadingEggspress.  (https://readingeggspress.com/?_ga=2.218250139.365733193.1609219602-1934869411.1609219602This section of the website has a target audience of upper elementary to beginning middle school children ranging from eight to thirteen years old. The main activities in this section are focused on reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar. Here students will have up to 220 stories to interact with. Children will be tasked to read the story and answer questions towards the end of the lesson. Reading Eggspress also includes 216 spelling lessons for different grade levels. This section allows students to progress with the website and continue to strengthen their overall reading skills as they get older.

MathSeeds. (https://mathseeds.com/) For the last section of this website, Mathseeds is an online comprehensive mathematics program for children ranging from ages three to nine. Similar to the rest of the website, Mathseeds allows children to effectively interact with activities on numbers, telling time, geometry, word problems, measurements and money. As students’ progress throughout the lessons, higher level skills such as fractions and multiplication will be introduced. Although this is not a literacy section, it is a great example of how beneficial this site is.

Overall, Reading Eggs offers such a wide span of literacy activities. Parents and Teachers can download printable activity sheets found on each section of the website to adjust to the at-home learning environment we are all currently facing. This literacy website is highly effective for teachers, parents, and students!
