Reading A-Z Kids (RAZ Kids)

 

Raz- Kids (https://www.raz-kids.com/) is an award-winning differentiated reading program. It provides comprehensive, leveled reading resources for kids, which includes over hundreds of eBooks, at 29 different leveled of reading difficulty.

Students are able to access leveled texts through an interactive learning portal, which keeps them motivated and engaged. The texts are available in both online and mobile formats. Students are able to listen to the text be read to them, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading. A corresponding eQuiz is provided to the students, which assesses comprehension and helps determine future instruction needs. As students complete reading ten or more leveled eBooks and pass their corresponding eQuizzes, they will be able to advance to the next reading level.

Raz- Kids offers many benefits to students and teachers. Students are able to access the extensive library and read the leveled books online anytime and anyplace as Raz-Kids is accessible through its mobile app. Raz- Kids offers leveled resources and interactive tools which provides its users with high-interest books and various active reading strategy practices, including drawing, highlighting, stamping and note-taking options. Teachers are able to review test scores and know exactly what skills students are honing in on and which skills they need more focus on, as each of the eQuiz questions are tagged with particular comprehension skills. Raz-Kids also offers digital incentives and rewards which work to keep students motivated to read and advance to other reading levels. Lastly, Raz-Kids allows students to revisit the text as they are taking the eQuiz as well as take multiple attempts at the eQuiz.

The Raz-Kids website provides its visitors with an overview of the program and free samples. The free trial provides users with free access to the program for two weeks. After the free access has expired, users must pay for the subscription. Its base subscription cost is $99.95 for one whole year and for up to 36 students.

Raz-Kids is a great literacy tool as it provides meaningful online reading practice, makes reading fun with its engaging eLearning environment, and provides teachers with digital reports on their students’ progress. Its website is quite simple and easy to navigate through.
