Adolescent Literacy (AdLit)
Adolescent Literacy, more commonly referred
to as AdLit.org, (http://www.adlit.org/) is
a national website that offers a plethora of information and resources to
parents and educators of struggling readers and writers, from grades 4-12.
The website is easy to navigate through as
it is broken down into sections, including:
-AdLit 10. This
section offers articles on various topics about improving literacy instruction.
-Common Core Classroom. This
section offers various professional development video modules and resources for
ELA teachers and content area teachers.
-Hot Topics. This
section includes articles on hot topics in adolescent literacy, these articles provide
research-based and best-practice information for those interested in helping
young learners become better readers and writers.
-Classroom Strategies. In
this section, users will be able to read and learn about different “Before,
During, and After” reading strategies and access available graphic organizers.
-For Teachers. This
section provides various articles on professional development, strategies to
use in the classroom, how to work with families, and more that will support their
instructuion.
-Ready for College. Here,
users will find great reads about college readiness.
-Research & Reports.
This section provides sources of reading research and reports.
-Glossary.
This section contains definitions of commonly used terms related to reading,
literacy, and reading instruction.
AdLit.org is a great literact
resource as it contains a wealth of resources and information intended to help
support struggling adolescent readers and writers. Another great thing about
this website is that it also features content for ELL and Special Education
students. Its design is simple and easy to navigate through and it contains
engaging classroom activities.
